If you want to know what type of Paypal Account you need to have to allow your users to Pay using their Credit Card (without requiring a Paypal account) for both subscription and one-off products, please continue to read…
1) If you have a Paypal Standard account and you want to accept payment for your subscription/continuity products, then your customers need to have a Paypal account to pay. They cannot pay using CC for subscription products.
The users will get transferred to the Paypal site when they click on the payment button. They will only find the ‘Pay with Paypal’ option on the Paypal site. There will not be a ‘Pay with CC’ option.
2) If you have a Paypal Standard account and you want to accept payment for your one-off products (non-recurring products), then the customers do NOT need to have a Paypal account to pay.
They will get transferred to the Paypal site and can pay with their credit card.
3) If you have a Paypal Enhanced Recurring Payments account, then the customers can pay using CC for both one-time and subscription products.
They will get transferred to the Paypal site and can pay with their credit card.
Please NOTE: We have not tested this ourselves but we were informed by some of the DAP users that they are successfully using their Paypal Enhanced Recurring Payments with DAP for CC payments (for both 1-time and subscription products).
4) If you have a Paypal Payments PRO account, you can use the DAP shopping cart to allow payment via CC for both 1-time and subscription products.
Users will NOT be transferred to the Paypal site. They can pay on your site. DAP will interact with Paypal via APIs to complete the payment processing.
If you want to allow your users to have both options (pick either ‘Pay with CC’ or ‘Checkout with Paypal’) for payment, the DAP cart supports that as well.
Please NOTE: Your site needs to support SSL / https to use the DAP cart. You can work with your Web Host to have SSL enabled and valid SSL cert installed on your DAP domain. You do not have to run your entire site on https. Only the DAP shopping cart checkout page needs to be on https because the users will be entering their CC info on that page.
5) If you have a Paypal Payflow account, please talk to Paypal support to downgrade your account to Paypal Payments PRO if you want to use the DAP Shopping Cart. The DAP shopping cart does NOT work with Payflow. It only works with Paypal Payments PRO.
