Many of our competitors who claim to have “Content Dripping”, don’t really have true content dripping.
That’s what we’re hearing from multiple users who have used our competitor’s product, and moved away from it because of this very reason.
For example, one of them (you could say they’re our main competition) has what they call “Sequential Content Delivery”. Though on the surface it does seem to be what you think of when you say “Content Dripping”, in reality, it’s not exactly that.
How THEIR “Dripping” works
Let’s say you have one Product – and wish to gradually deliver content over 12 months.
What you would have to do with their model, is you end up creating 12 different products (or membership levels) – one for each month.
And then set up their sequential upgrades to upgrade your member from…
Product 1 to Product 2 at the end of Month 1,
Product 2 to Product 3 at the end of Month 2, etc.
So if you have 12 months worth of content, you basically end up creating 12 different products (or levels, or whatever they call it).
Even though it’s just ONE product!
And once someone gets upgraded to Month 2’s content, ALL of that content is available to them on Day 1 of Month 2. Unless you set up the individual day’s worth of content also as separate products.
But with the above setup, within a month’s content, there is no “staggered” delivery. All of month 2 content is available on Day 1 of Month 2. No “dripping” there.
Which means, someone who just signed up, gets access to ALL of Month #1 content right on Day #1.
And if their recurring payment came in month 2, that means they get access to ALL of Month #2 content on Day #31 (or Day 1 of Month 2).
Not good.
Because this means they can download everything on Day #1 and simply ask for a refund. Which means the whole idea of “dripping” is defeated.
And here’s where it gets more hairy…
Let’s say you have 3 levels: Platinum, Gold and Silver.
So for the Platinum product, to drip content on your Platinum members for 12 months, you end up creating 12 Platinum products.
So, instead of just having one “Platinum” product, you now have 12 different products…
“Platinum 1” with Month 1’s content
“Platinum 2” with Month 2’s content
“Platinum 3” with Month 3’s content
“Platinum 4” with Month 4’s content
“Platinum 5” with Month 5’s content
“Platinum 6” with Month 6’s content
“Platinum 7” with Month 7’s content
“Platinum 8” with Month 8’s content
“Platinum 9” with Month 9’s content
“Platinum 10” with Month 10’s content
“Platinum 11” with Month 11’s content
“Platinum 12” with Month 12’s content
And that was just your ONE LEVEL.
You would also have to create the 12 “Gold” products:
“Gold 1” with Month 1’s content
“Gold 2” with Month 2’s content
“Gold 3” with Month 3’s content
“Gold 4” with Month 4’s content
“Gold 5” with Month 5’s content
“Gold 6” with Month 6’s content
“Gold 7” with Month 7’s content
“Gold 8” with Month 8’s content
“Gold 9” with Month 9’s content
“Gold 10” with Month 10’s content
“Gold 11” with Month 11’s content
“Gold 12” with Month 12’s content
Then you have the 12 “Silver” products.
“Silver 1” with Month 1’s content
“Silver 2” with Month 2’s content
“Silver 3” with Month 3’s content
“Silver 4” with Month 4’s content
“Silver 5” with Month 5’s content
“Silver 6” with Month 6’s content
“Silver 7” with Month 7’s content
“Silver 8” with Month 8’s content
“Silver 9” with Month 9’s content
“Silver 10” with Month 10’s content
“Silver 11” with Month 11’s content
“Silver 12” with Month 12’s content
So to basically have 3 membership levels, and drip content over a period of 12 months, you have to create, setup, and manage a whopping 36 different products.
